2016 Legislative Priorities
The Legislature will convene for a regular session on January 11, 2016, and we are gearing up for an important year.
The Children’s Campaign Fund provides a non-partisan, collective voice for the people of Washington state to elect leaders who put children at the top of the legislative agenda.
Our efforts are born from the belief that the wellbeing of children must rank as one of the state’s top priorities.
The Board of Directors has voted to approve the following legislative bills as CCF’s 2016 Legislative Priorities, while acknowledging additional pieces of legislation may be added to these four key bills before Sine Die.
Homeless Student Stability Act: new access to education liaisons and a housing grant program.
Medicaid Behavioral Health Access: additional support to ensure access to behavioral health/treatment for low-income children and adults.
Early Intervention – Administrative Cap Bill: fixes a rule that has allowed districts to keep a larger than is necessary percentage of early intervention funds for administrative purposes.
Paid Family Leave: expands paid family leave including maternity/paternity leave.
